Artist’s Statement
Ever since I remember, I loved to capture the images through the eye of the camera. It enabled me to savour life intensely, every hundredth of a second. I could catch time from running away. Photography made me see everything around with a nuanced perspective and brought me closer to nature. To arrest the majestic world of wildlife through my camera became my hobby horse. A very high fervor of travel together with the love for nature is a perfect blend for a wildlife photographer. The thrill of capturing the unusual and esoteric gives me the best possible endorphin boost! An engineer by profession, I now follow my passion for nature photography.
About
Born in 1975 into a middle-class family, I was greatly influenced by my father, the late Sh. Ratan Kumar Jain, a physics lecturer and an avid hobby photographer. I still vividly remember watching him work with his Minolta manual-focus camera and experimenting with different film speeds. The magic of the darkroom, illuminated by red lights, fascinated me as a child. From a young age, I dreamed of owning a camera of my own.
My passion for wildlife was further ignited when I watched The Living Planet by David Attenborough on Doordarshan. After completing my schooling at Montfort School, Delhi, I pursued Computer Engineering at Delhi College of Engineering and embarked on a corporate career as a software engineer. Yet, the dream of exploring the wild with my camera never faded. Annual visits to national parks with my Sony Cyber-shot Auto Focus Camera kept the passion alive. In 2014, following a health scare, I found the courage to leave the corporate world and fully embrace my lifelong passion—wildlife photography. Since then, my journey has taken me to breathtaking landscapes across the world, where I strive to capture the essence of Stillness in Motion. Through this website, I hope to share some of my most incredible moments and experiences, offering a glimpse into the beauty of nature and wildlife.
